Housing Prices Have Leveled Off Since the Close of 2005

After rising continuously since before 2000, median housing prices in San Joaquin, Fresno, Merced, Stanislaus, and Sacramento Counties showed signs of leveling off since the close of 2005.  Sacramento began leveling off early, in September 2005, when prices in the other counties were still on the rise.  That was when the median price in Sacramento County was surpassed by Stanislaus County for the first time in years.  The median price remained the highest in San Joaquin County and the lowest in Fresno County.  As of March 2006, a declining trend of the median housing price has not been found in these counties.
